How check is your diff V1 or V2 without disassembling anything?
The free play in output shaft on V1 is on the right side while the free play on V2 is on the left side. So you can simply lift the car and check on which side is the free play.
Or if it is easier for you, just send us your VIN and we will check for you.

The kit fits E46 M3 GKN factory differential and it doesn’t requires any modification in most cases it is a direct replacement for stock clutches.
(However some unit can require slight modification to the stack height on occasion)

What do you get with Free play fix shim?
Almost every E46 M3 Factory LSD unit has problem with the free play in the right drive shaft. That can be recognized by noticing a ‘’clonk’’ sound when engaging into 1st gear, other signs such as weeping / leaking oil on right side of the differential. This problem can cause further damage to your differential e.g. clutches and bearings’ premature wear due to the lack of oil. It is highly recommended to address this as soon as possible.
The RacingDiffs FREE PLAY DELETE SHIM will resolve this problem without any modifications for good. Just replace the factory shim, which goes behind the right side gear, with this shim. It’s that simple.
